So long, John McLane: Bruce Willis retires from acting after aphasia diagnosis

“This is a truly challenging time for our family and we are so grateful for their continued love, compassion and support”.

The family of Willis, 67, known worldwide for the “Die Hard” movie franchise, released a statement on social media announcing the actor’s retirement.

“To Bruce’s incredible fans, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and was recently diagnosed with aphasia, which is affecting his cognitive abilities,” read the statement released by the actor’s eldest daughter, Rumer, his current wife, Emma Heming-Willis, and his ex-wife, fellow actress Demi Moore. “As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”

“This is a truly challenging time for our family and we are so grateful for their continued love, compassion and support,” the statement continued.
